Case study
HealthDirect
Rebuilt the national health service finder and, in the first year of COVID vaccines, put a clinic finder in front of more than 60 million sessions.
Challenge
HealthDirect’s flagship Service Finder was showing its age while remaining the way millions of Australians find care. It needed a rebuild without dropping a service people actually rely on.
When COVID vaccines arrived, the country needed two things immediately: a way to check eligibility, and a way to find the nearest clinic with the earliest appointment. Neither existed, and the clock was public.
Solution
Led the Service Finder 2.0 rebuild — a modern stack for a product used by more than two million Australians — keeping the service live while replacing it underneath.
Stood up an Eligibility Checker in days, not months, so people could see whether they were in the current vaccine cohort.
Designed and shipped the Vaccine Clinic Finder: location, availability, and the shortest path from “am I eligible?” to “where do I go?”.
Outcome
The Vaccine Clinic Finder served more than 60 million unique sessions in its first twelve months.
Service Finder 2.0 replaced the legacy product as the national entry point to care.
A reminder that the highest-leverage engineering, in a crisis, is the boring kind: working software, on time, that a non-technical public can actually use.
